Cost For Care

NCBC strives to make the cost of care easier to manage with cost transparency, and to support birthing clients in reaching their goals with care and compassion.

Insurance Options

We are currently providing out-of-network and self-pay options. Our recent accreditation with the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC) has allowed us to begin the process of creating insurance contracts with most insurance companies! Once these contracts are completed, we will update our information.

For out-of-network insurance, we recommend contacting your insurance provider as they might offer benefits related to your care at NCBC. We can supply an estimate through our Verification of Benefits (VOB) before formally entering into care. Please schedule a tour if you are interested in exploring care.

Estimate of Cost

If you have insurance: To better understand the estimated cost for care, a verification of benefits (VOB) will be processed. This out-of-pocket cost will be applied to your registration fee, if you choose to receive care at NCBC. The option to submit a VOB will be presented after attending a tour, which will authorize us to contact your insurance carrier to discuss how much it would cost you to birth at NCBC. After receiving this information, you can decide if receiving care is an option for you.

If you are interested in being a self-pay client: We do offer folks a bundled fee for clients whose insurance isn’t in-network, don’t carry insurance, or who have high deductibles and prefer to pay out-of-pocket. This bundled fee includes routine prenatal care, birth support, postpartum care and the first two weeks of newborn care. The Self Pay rate does not include nitrous oxide for pain relief, certain genetic screenings, the registration fee, or any non-routine visits. For more information, please schedule a tour.

Other Fees to Consider

  • NCBC charges a non-refundable $500 registration fee, which includes the VOB, as well as chart reviews, our Wrap-Up class, and other administrative costs not covered by insurance.

  • Childbirth, lactation, and parenting classes are not included in the self-pay bundle, or covered by insurance. First time parents should plan to take a comprehensive childbirth education class as a part of their birth preparation.

  • Doula support is widely recognized as a helpful tool for families pursuing unmedicated childbirth. We suggest all families look into doula support for their birth center birth.
