Appointments and More
Freestanding birth centers are fully prepared to care for families from the beginning of their pregnancy, through birth, and the early postpartum period. If you are just finding out you are pregnant, call to schedule an orientation tour to start the process of becoming a client.
If you have been receiving care already in this pregnancy, we’d also love to talk with you! Prenatal care at North Carolina Birth Center is appropriate for low-risk pregnancies, and is a great fit for people who are looking for an unmedicated birth. We can help you transfer into our care after you take the orientation tour and have a full understanding of what we are able to offer as a part of our birth center experience.
Our Prenatal Care
What You Can Expect
We follow a standard prenatal appointment schedule, which means if you start care with us at the beginning of your pregnancy, you can expect 14-17 prenatal appointments, depending on when you go into labor.
Education
Each prenatal appointment is an opportunity to get to know your midwives more, get answers to your important questions, and receive valuable one-on-one education about what is currently happening with your baby, and what you can expect next.
Relationship
Studies show that prenatal care with midwives has positive impact on your birth outcomes, and your health. One reason for that is the time, trusting building, and relationship that develops with your care team. It turns out that how you feel and are treated does matter!
Upcoming Classes
We know a quality childbirth class is not simply a helpful suggestion - it’s a key part of becoming prepared for the work of giving birth. We have curriculum with a focus on unmediated birth, and we can’t wait to see you in class!
